進階英文ADVANCED ENGLISH III: 本課程著重在語言使用的廣度與精熟度,以培育出能流利使用學術語言之人才。學生透過課堂練習與同儕觀摩,在正式場合中,針對複雜、不熟悉的話題,能清晰、仔細地描述細節,並做出適當的結論。透過模擬聯合國訓練,能撰寫闡述論點的長篇文章或報告,對各種議題能以清楚的邏輯結構予以評析、提出解決方案與作出結論,以表達個人觀點,並能運用多種不同的句型與常用書面語。模擬聯合國(Model UN)訓練除了鍛鍊學生的語言能力、演講能力,更重要的是培養學生的領導能力、換位思考、團體組織能力,同時了解不同的國際知識及文化,以及聯合國如何共同努力解決世界社會與社區問題。

每週上課第一小時以講授課本為主討論為輔,學生課前預習指定上課內容,課堂中教師以投影片多媒體講解,也鼓勵學生發言,並利用課堂演練及考試來了解他們的學習成效。第二小時則以學生上台分享自己所讀文章為主,每位學生課前閱讀與當週主題相關的文章,準備2~3分鐘口頭報告,並回答其他學生的問題。另外,除了鼓勵學生參加校外競賽之外,也要求學生完成模擬聯合國(MUN)訓練,學生們需扮演來自不同國家的聯合國代表,聚焦四議題:後疫情時代經濟重建、空氣污染與兒童健康、兩性平權、及新移民與多元文化,了解各國的立場與處境,學習如何解決真實的國際議題,最後能實際參與模擬聯合國會議。

MUN

This course is designed to increase the breadth and depth of English language and to help students acquire more sophisticated academic language. Through classroom exercises and peer feedback, students learn to describe their topics (unfamiliar/complex) more thoroughly and make appropriate conclusions in formal settings. By doing Model United Nations (MUN), students learn about the world, and become acquainted with diplomacy and international issues. MUN enhance leadership skills. It is an exercise in research, public speaking and teamwork, which students will need throughout their career, and it gives them a chance to practice while they are a student.

 

進階英文ADVANCED ENGLISH IV: 本課程持續著重在語言使用的廣度與精熟度,以培育出精通學術語言之人才。學生透過課堂練習與同儕觀摩,針對複雜、不熟悉的話題,能發表清楚、流暢、且具邏輯性的談話,並能彈性地調整說話方式以符合聽者需求。透過準備海外研習營隊/研究所的申請資料,對各種議題能以縝密的邏輯結構予以評析與批判、提出完善的解決方案與作出適當的結論,以表達個人觀點,並能自如地運用多種不同的複雜句型與高程度書面語。申請海外研習或研究所,體驗新文化,置身於世界一流的教育中,如果取得國外有效的畢業文憑,將可提升個人全球就業競爭力。首先進行選擇海外營隊/學校,開始撰寫修改履歷表、推薦函、研究計畫等文件,同時準備參加托福雅思等留學相關考試。學習如何成為海外營隊的隊輔,協助營隊進行,了解隊員狀況及輔導,以達成營隊各階段目標。

Midterm

This course continues to focus on the breadth and depth in English language and to cultivate young academic talents. Through classroom exercises and peer observation, students learn to speak clearly, fluently and logically on complex or unknown topics, and adapt communication styles to different audiences. Applying for an overseas learning program or graduate school is a multi-step process. Students start by exploring programs to determine which is a good fit for their goals and reading application requirements. Students may take grad school tests while writing curriculum resume personal statements and get the letters of recommendation. Additionally, students learn how to become a good camp assistant, which include dressing in appropriate work attire (camp staff shirt) and providing assistance and support for programs to ensure success.
